CBI ARRESTS FOUR ACCUSED INCLUDING TWO SENIOR TAX ASSISTANTS OF INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT; AN AFO OF SBI & A PRIVATE PERSON IN SEPARATE CASES OF BRIBERY

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested two Tax Assistants posted at Income Tax Department, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam in a bribery of Rs. 60,000/-.

A case was registered against a Senior Tax Assistant, working in the office of Addl. CIT, Income Tax, Hyderabad and another Senior Tax Assistant, Income Tax Department, Visakhapatnam on the allegations that they conspired and demanded Rs.1,00,000/- from the Complainant in the matter of TDS certificate related to Complainant. It was also alleged that on negotiation, the accused reduced the demand and directed the Complainant to pay Rs.60,000/-.

CBI laid a trap and caught the Senior Tax Assistant of Income Department Hyderabad red handed while demanding & accepting his share of bribe of Rs.40,000/- from the Complainant. The share of other accused was allegedly paid online as demanded by him. He was also caught.  Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

In another case,  CBI has arrested Agriculture Field Officer,  State Bank of India, Nowrozabad branch, District Umariya(Madhya Pradesh) and a private person in a bribery of Rs. 10,000/-.

A case was registered on complaint against private person. It was alleged that the accused had demanded and attempted to obtain bribe of Rs. 10,000/- on behalf of Agriculture Field Officer, State Bank of India, Nowrozabad, District Umariya (MP),  from Complainant for getting sanctioned & disbursed a Loan of Rs. Five Lakh.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused private person while accepting the bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the Complainant. Later, the AFO of SBI was also caught while accepting the said bribe amount from the accused private person. Searches were  conducted at the premises of accused.

 All the arrested accused will be produced today before the Competent Courts
