THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN SUPERINTENDENT OF CENTRAL EXCISE IN A BRIBERY CASE
The Special Judge for CBI, Mumbai has convicted Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar, then Superintendent (Preventive) Central Excise, Thane-I Commissionerate Dadar, Mumbai and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000/- in a bribery case.
CBI had registered case against Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar and others U/s 120 IPC, Sec. 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegation that Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar had demanded a bribe of Rs.1.5 lacs from the complainant who was Proprietor Of private firm for setting the excise duty matter.
A charge sheet was filed on 19.05.2009 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Mumbai against Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar then Superintendent of Central Excise and other three officials.
The Trial Court found Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar guilty and acquitted three other officials.
