Notification No. 26 (RE-2000)/1997-2002, dated August 1, 2000, issued by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, introduces amendments to the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items under the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002. The update includes new entries in the Exim Code for various chemicals. Notably, items such as acyclic hydrocarbons with fluorine and chlorine, scent sprays, and certain chemicals like difluoro chloromethane (HCFC 22), methyl flurodichloro methane (HCFC 141b), and trifluoro methyl dichloro methane (HCFC 123) are now subject to restricted import policies. The amendment specifies that some substances are free for import if they do not deplete the ozone layer, while others remain restricted. These changes are part of the ongoing regulatory updates to align with global environmental standards. The notification underscores the importance of compliance with the updated conditions for trade in these chemical goods.
