The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a chargesheet against nine accused persons and three private companies in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi relating to the issuance of new Unified Access Services Licences and subsequent allocation of 2G Spectrum.

The investigation relating to the issuance of new Unified Access Services Licences and subsequent allocation of 2G Spectrum during 2008-09, has established commission of offences punishable U/s 120-B, 420, 468, 471 of IPC & Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and substantive offences thereof against the then Telecom Minister; the then Secretary(Telecom); the then Private Secretary to the then Telecom Minister; two Directors of Mumbai-based private company who were also Promoters of a Mumbai-based private company; Managing Director of a Gurgaon-based Real Estate Company, and Group Managing Director & two Senior Vice Presidents of a Mumbai-based Telecom Company. Two Mumbai-based private telecom companies and one Gurgaon (Haryana)-based private telecom company have also been named in the chargesheet.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.

Further investigation in the case continues.
