PFRDA, through Circular No. PFRDA/2026/42/REG-PF/08 dated 4 August 2026, extended the cut-off time for receipt of National Pension System (NPS) contributions by the Trustee Bank for same-day investment from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day. Contributions received by the Trustee Bank up to 1:30 PM, which are subsequently matched and booked successfully, will be considered for investment on the same day, with units allotted based on the applicable closing Net Asset Value (NAV) in accordance with the existing regulatory framework. The revised cut-off applies to all categories of NPS contributions received through channels including Government Nodal Offices, Points of Presence (PoPs), eNPS, D-Remit, BBPS, UPI, STAR NPS, Tatkal NPS, and other operationalised channels. Subscribers and intermediaries have been advised to initiate fund transfers sufficiently in advance to ensure receipt by the Trustee Bank before the revised cut-off time, while intermediaries have been directed to align their operational and technology processes for timely transmission and processing of contributions. The circular has been issued under Section 14 of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 2013.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority

Circular No.: PFRDA/2026/42/REG-PF/08 Date: 04th Aug 2026

To:

All NPS Stakeholders

Subject: Same-Day Investment of NPS Contributions Received by Trustee Bank up to 1:30 PM

1. The National Pension System (NPS) has been designed as an efficient, transparent and technology-driven retirement savings framework. As part of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority’s (PFRDA) continuous endeavour to enhance subscriber experience and improve operational efficiency, various digital and process enhancements have been undertaken across the NPS intermediary architecture to facilitate earlier investment of subscriber contributions.

2. In this regard, the cut-off time for receipt of NPS contributions by the Trustee Bank for consideration for same-day investment has been extended to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day from the 11 AM cut-off earlier. Accordingly, NPS contributions received by the Trustee Bank up to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day, which are subsequently matched and booked successfully shall be considered for investment on the same day. Units in respect of such contributions shall be allotted based on the applicable closing Net Asset Value (NAV) of the day, in accordance with the extant regulatory framework.

3. The extended cut-off time shall be applicable to all categories of NPS contributions received by the Trustee Bank through various channels, including contributions received from Government Nodal Offices, Points of Presence (PoPs), eNPS, D-Remit, BBPS, UPI, STAR NPS, Tatkal NPS, and such other channels as may be operationalized from time to time.

4. All NPS subscribers and associated intermediaries, including Points of Presence (PoPs), Corporates, Government Nodal Offices and Payment Gateway Service Providers (PGSP) facilitating contributions through eNPS, are advised to plan and initiate fund transfers sufficiently in advance so as to ensure that the contributions are received by the Trustee Bank on or before 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day. This would enable eligible contributions to be considered for same-day investment and thereby facilitating timely investment and ensuring that the benefit of the extended cut-off is passed on to the subscribers.

5. All concerned intermediaries are advised to suitably align their operational and technology processes with the revised cut-off time and ensure timely transmission and processing of NPS contributions to facilitate seamless implementation of the same-day investment framework.

6. This circular is issued in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 14 of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 2013, and is available on the PFRDA website under the Circulars section of the regulatory framework.

Yours sincerely,
Chief General Manager
