Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) issued eleven notifications dated 29 May 2026 under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, implementing orders passed by the Disciplinary Committee and the Board of Discipline against eleven chartered accountants. The actions followed findings of professional misconduct, other misconduct, or both under various provisions of the First and Second Schedules to the Act. The penalties included removal of names from the Register of Members for periods ranging from one month to one year, effective from 29 May 2026. In one case involving three clubbed matters, the member was directed to undergo concurrent punishments, resulting in removal for 120 days and a fine of ₹20,000, with an additional 30-day removal in case of default in payment. Three members were removed for one year, six months, and three months respectively, along with fines of ₹5 lakh, ₹5 lakh, and ₹1 lakh, and were also reprimanded. Another member was removed for one year with a fine of ₹1 lakh and reprimand. Several members were removed for periods of one month or three months following findings of professional misconduct or other misconduct by the Board of Discipline. The notifications were issued under Sections 20, 21A, and 21B of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, read with the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, giving effect to the disciplinary orders and removing the concerned members from the Register of Members from 29 May 2026.
