The Government of India, through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued Notification No. 71/2025-26 dated 31 March 2026, extending the “Free” import policy for Urad (Vigna Mungo) classified under ITC (HS) Code 07133110. Exercising powers under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 and the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, the government has revised the existing policy condition, which earlier permitted free imports only up to 31 March 2026. The revised provision now allows unrestricted import of Urad until 31 March 2027. This extension ensures continued availability of Urad in the domestic market, helping to stabilize supply and prices while supporting trade flexibility. The notification clarifies that all other conditions remain unchanged, and the amendment has been approved by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Consequently, importers can continue importing Urad without restrictions for an additional year.

S.O. 1718(E).: In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (22 of 1992), read with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby amends the Import Policy Condition as under:
