The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) issued a public notice on 9 March 2026 cautioning the public against dealing with SALAI Holdings Private Limited and SMART Society in relation to pension or investment activities. Police authorities reported that these entities, promoted by Narengbam Samarjit Singh and associates, allegedly collected deposits from individuals by promising monthly interest after issuing membership dividend claim books and receipt memos. The regulator clarified that these entities, including their subsidiaries and agencies, are not registered under the PFRDA Act, 2013 and are not authorised to operate or offer pension-related services within the regulator’s jurisdiction. Members of the public interested in participating in pension schemes such as the National Pension System are advised to deal only with intermediaries registered with PFRDA and listed on its official website. The authority warned that any financial dealings with unregistered entities are undertaken at the individual’s own risk and encouraged people to report suspicious approaches to PFRDA or law enforcement agencies.

(Caution against dealing with SALAI Holdings Pvt. Ltd. and SMART Society)

Whereas it has been reported by police authorities that SALAI Holdings Private Limited and SMART Society, formed by Mr. Narengbam Samarjit Singh and his associates, have agreed to pay monthly interest against deposited amounts post receipt of membership dividend claim book and receipt memos issued to depositors by SMART Society.

The Authority would like to bring to the notice of the general public that the said entities, its subsidiaries/ agencies are not registered in respect of activities falling within the jurisdiction of the PFRDA Act, 2013.

The general public desirous of participating in the National Pension System (NPS) and other pension schemes regulated by this Authority are hereby advised to exercise caution and not to deal with or give any contribution or documents to aforementioned companies and its holdings, subsidiaries or agencies, or any of its officers, employees in any manner and to deal only with such entities, as are registered with PFRDA as intermediaries, details of which can be accessed from the website of PFRDA i.e. www.pfrda.org.in. Details regarding NPS are also available on the website www.npstrust.org.in.

PFRDA shall not be liable for any financial or any other loss suffered by any person on account of any dealings with unauthorized entities/ individuals. All such dealings are conducted at the individual’s sole risk.

If you have been approached by these entities for pension investments, consider reporting the incident to the PFRDA or the local law enforcement agencies.

This notice is issued in the interest of general public.
