The Income Tax Department has assessed the total taxable income of suspended IAS officer Rajesh Rajora, facing corruption charges, at Rs 5.21 crore and fixed a tax liability of Rs 1.5 crore against him. IT Department sources said that as per the assessment order passed against Rajora last week, he will also have to give explanation about ”undisclosed and unexplained” income of Rs 5.21 crore.
The Income Tax Department had raided the residences of Rajora and some other officials of the state Health Department in May 2008.
Rajora was suspended in February 2010 for contravening the All India Service (Conduct) Rules 1968, following an inquiry.
