Designation of court of XII Additional Sessions Judge, Raipur as Special Court for trial offences punishable under section 50(1) of the Prohibition of Benami Transaction Act 1988 (Amendment Act 2016) for the entire State of Chhattisgarh and Rectification of typographical errors in Notification No. S.O.5323 (E) dated 16.10.2018.
Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has issued Notification No. 117/2025 dated 17th July 2025 under Section 50(1) of the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988. The notification, issued in consultation with the Chief Justice of the respective High Courts, amends a previous notification (S.O. 5323(E), dated 16th October 2018) concerning the designation of special courts for trial of offences under the Act. Two specific changes have been made: for serial number 5 in the original table, the designated court is now the “Court of XII Additional Sessions Judge, Raipur,” and for serial number 21, it is the “Special Court (Communal Riots), Jaipur.” These amendments aim to streamline the judicial process in benami property-related cases by updating the courts designated to handle such matters.

S.O. 3268(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 50 of the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 (45 of 1988) and in consultation with the Chief Justice of the respective High Court, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, section 3, subsection (ii) vide notification number S.O. 5323(E), dated the 16th October, 2018, namely:-
2. In the said notification, in the Table,-
(i) against serial number 5, for the entries under column (3), the following entries shall be substituted, namely:-
“Court of XII Additional Sessions Judge, Raipur.”;
(ii) against serial number 21, for the entries under column (3), the following entries shall be substituted, namely:-
“Special Court (Communal Riots), Jaipur.”.
