The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved proposals from the Department of Revenue for several appointments to the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT). Shri A. Venu Prasad, an IAS officer, and Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, an IRS officer, have been appointed as Technical Member (State) and Technical Member (Centre) for the Principal Bench in New Delhi, respectively. Additionally, Justice (Retd.) Mayank Kumar Jain has been appointed as a Judicial Member for the same bench. The ACC also approved the appointment of 31 individuals as Technical Members (Centre) for various State Benches of the GSTAT, as well as 52 individuals as Judicial Members for these state benches. These appointees will each serve for a period of four years or until they reach 67 years of age, whichever comes first, at a salary of Rs. 2,25,000 per month. The appointments were officially announced on August 4, 2025.
