A GST fraud involving issuance of fake invoices amounting to approximately ₹43 Crores tax evasion is unearthed by Howrah Commissionerate of Kolkata CGST Zone.

Detection of Rs 43 Crores GST fraud
Howrah CGST Commissionerate has unearthed a GST fraud based in the Hooghly and Howrah area involving a case of fraudulent issuance of fake GST invoices involving tax evasion of approximately Rs 43 Crores.
It was found that such GST invoices were issued to 63 GST Taxpayers. Investigation at the recipient’s end has revealed that invoices were issued without delivery of any goods or services. These recipients have availed inadmissible Input Tax Credit and on admitting the irregularity are discharging the tax liability on this count.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the extent of this fraud.
