CBI ARRESTS A CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT AND A JOINT COMMISSIONER IN AN ALLEGED BRIBERY OF RS.FOUR LAKH; RECOVERS CASH OF RS.7.4 LAKH(APPROX)
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Chartered Accountant and a Joint Commissioner , CGST, Nagpur in an alleged bribery of Rs. Four Lakh.
A case was registered against a Chartered Accountant on complaint alleging demand of bribe of Rs. 4,50,000/- as motive to induce Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2 and for showing favour in service tax matter. It was further alleged that the Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2 had issued a Show Cause Notice pertaining to service tax liability in the name of the Complainant. It was also alleged that the accused demanded bribe of Rs. 4,50,000/- to get the service tax liability case disposed off.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting the negotiated bribe amount of Rs. 4,00,000/- from the Complainant.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to recovery of several incriminating documents. A cash amounting to Rs.7.4 Lakh(approx) & 250 Gm (approx) Gold and one Locker key were also recovered from the premises of Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-II.
Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur.
