Summary: The Ministry of Finance, in its press release dated 30 October 2026, announced that Indian visitors can use their preferred Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps for online bookings at At the Top, Burj Khalifa in the UAE and Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. NPCI International Payments Limited (), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India, announced the respective partnerships on 29 July 2026 and 9 September 2026. In the UAE, the arrangement with NEOPAY and Emaar Entertainment makes At the Top, Burj Khalifa the first UAE attraction to implement UPI for e-commerce.
In Singapore, collaboration with FOMO Pay extends UPI acceptance to Resorts World Sentosa, including Universal Studios Singapore, the Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark. The release notes that Singapore received 1.2 million Indian visitors in 2025. These integrations build on existing payment partnerships, including QR-based merchant networks, and extend UPI to advance travel bookings from India. The stated objectives include reducing currency friction, improving payment convenience and supporting cross-border financial connectivity. The release also recalls the launch of UPI ticketing for the Eiffel Tower on 26 January 2024. It lists UPI acceptance in ten countries—Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Greece—and states that Uzbekistan is set to become the eleventh following a commercial agreement announced on 30 August 2026 during the Prime Minister’s visit.
