The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested officials from the CGST and EPFO in separate bribery cases. In Indore, a CGST Superintendent was caught accepting a Rs. 15,000 bribe to unblock a complainant’s Input Tax Credit (ITC). Acting on a complaint, the CBI laid a trap and arrested the official, subsequently conducting searches at the accused’s premises. In a separate case in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, the CBI apprehended the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, an Enforcement Officer from EPFO, and a private consultant for accepting a Rs. 10 lakh bribe. The bribe was reportedly demanded to settle a Provident Fund (PF) demand related to the complainant’s firm, threatening a recovery of Rs. 45-50 lakh if the demand was unmet. During a trap, the consultant was caught receiving Rs. 5 lakh in cash and self-cheques of Rs. 5 lakh on behalf of the officials. Searches at seven locations in Baddi, Solan, Shimla, and Chandigarh uncovered Rs. 23.5 lakh in cash and incriminating documents at the residence of the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner. All three accused have been produced before the CBI court in Shimla. Investigations are ongoing in both cases to uncover further details and accomplices.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has today i.e. 28.11.2024 apprehended accused Superintendent of CGST, Indore (MP) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 15,000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on 28.11.2024 against accused Superintendent of CGST, Indore (MP) on allegations that accused Superintendent demanded undue advantage of Rs.15,000/- from complainant for unblocking/ release of Input Tax Credit of GST.

CBI laid a trap and caught accused Superintendent of CGST, Indore while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the complainant.

Searches are being conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused Investigation is continuing.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three accused including Regional Provident Fund Commissioner and Enforcement Officer, both of EPFO, Baddi, Solan (HP)  and a consultant  (private person) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10 lakh (Rs. 5 lakh cash and “Self Cheques” of Rs. 5 lakh) from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on 24.11.2024 against two accused including Enforcement Officer (EO) of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Baddi, Distt. Solan (H.P.), Private Consultant, Baddi, Distt. Solan (H.P.) and other unknown EPFO officers on allegations that accused Enforcement Officer demanded undue advantage of Rs.10 lakh through said accused private consultant for himself and also for other senior officers of EPFO to favourably settle the matter of PF demand of complainant’s firm which was pending with EPFO Office, Baddi, Solan(H.P.). It was further alleged that if the said demand was not met, the recovery would be 45-50 lakh.

CBI laid a trap and caught accused consultant (private person) while demanding and accepting Rs. 10 lakh (Rs. 5 lakh cash and “Self Cheques” of Rs. 5 lakh) from the complainant on behalf of accused Enforcement Officer and  Regional Provident Fund Commissioner whose role emerged during the trap proceedings. All three accused were arrested and are being produced in the Court of Ld. Spl. Judge, CBI Cases, Shimla.

Further, CBI conducted searches at the residential and official premises of accused at seven locations in Baddi at Solan (HP), Shimla (HP) and Chandigarh. A cash of Rs 23.5 lakh (approx.) and incriminating documents were recovered from the premises of Regional Provident Fund Commissioner at Chandigarh.

Investigation is continuing.
