Hindustan Zinc Limited, a leading player in the global zinc industry, has announced the launch of two innovative zinc alloys, VedAZ and VedAyush, designed to meet the evolving demands of the galvanizing industry. The launch, which took place on 3rd November 2026, marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to expand its portfolio of value-added zinc products, catering to both domestic and international markets.

VedAZ, a zinc-aluminium master alloy, is engineered to enhance the precision and efficiency of galvanizing processes. It allows for better control of aluminium levels in galvanizing baths, resulting in stable bath chemistry, uniform coating thickness, and improved surface finish. This innovation is expected to reduce dross formation and zinc losses, thereby optimising material utilisation and operational efficiency for manufacturers.

VedAyush, on the other hand, is a zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy developed to provide superior corrosion protection and durability. The inclusion of magnesium enhances corrosion resistance and coating adhesion, particularly in challenging environments such as high humidity and coastal areas. With potential applications across infrastructure, automotive components, and industrial systems, VedAyush is poised to meet the growing demand for high-performance coated steel products.

The launch of these alloys comes at a crucial time when corrosion management is becoming increasingly important in safeguarding industrial assets and public infrastructure. According to a recent report by the CII–Nomura Research Institute, corrosion-related losses in India are estimated to account for approximately 4.3% of the country’s GDP annually. In this context, advanced zinc alloy solutions like VedAZ and VedAyush are expected to play a vital role in enhancing asset durability and supporting the long-term performance of infrastructure.

Hindustan Zinc’s initiative to introduce these specialised alloys is aligned with its broader strategy to support India’s infrastructure and manufacturing sectors. By leveraging its integrated operations and alloy manufacturing capabilities, the company aims to build closer relationships with customers and expand its reach in the value-added zinc market. As the company continues to innovate and diversify its product offerings, analysts expect Hindustan Zinc to strengthen its position in the global zinc industry.
