Fortis Healthcare Limited has announced the acquisition of Suguna Ramaiah Hospitals Private Limited, a leading tertiary-care multispeciality hospital located in Rajajinagar, Bengaluru. The acquisition, valued at approximately INR 277 crore, was executed through International Hospital Limited (IHL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fortis. The transaction includes the purchase of the entire business operations and assets of Suguna Hospital, as well as the acquisition of the land and building on which the hospital is situated.
The business transfer agreement and the sale deed were signed on 28 October 2026, marking the completion of the transaction. Suguna Hospital, commissioned in 2006, currently operates 110 beds and has the potential to expand its capacity to 150 beds. The acquisition aligns with Fortis Healthcare’s cluster-focused inorganic growth strategy, enhancing its network in Bengaluru and enabling it to deliver quality healthcare services to patients in the city’s North West catchment area.
Suguna Hospital reported a revenue from operations of INR 49.79 crore for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2026. The acquisition does not involve any related party transactions, and the consideration for the transaction was settled in cash. The acquisition of Suguna Hospital is expected to bolster Fortis Healthcare’s presence in Bengaluru, allowing it to tap into the growing demand for healthcare services in the region.
Analysts view this acquisition as a strategic move by Fortis Healthcare to strengthen its foothold in the competitive Bengaluru healthcare market. The transaction is anticipated to enhance the company’s service offerings and operational capabilities in the region, potentially leading to increased market share and revenue growth. As the healthcare industry in India continues to expand, acquisitions like this are seen as pivotal for companies aiming to consolidate their position and achieve sustainable growth.
