Adani Enterprises Limited and Jabil Inc. have announced the signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a 50:50 joint venture aimed at manufacturing and assembling artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre equipment in India. This strategic partnership is poised to capitalise on the burgeoning demand for AI infrastructure within the country and globally.
The proposed joint venture will focus on creating a multi-gigawatt AI infrastructure platform, encompassing AI racks, servers, networking, power, and cooling systems. This initiative is timely, as industry forecasts predict India’s data centre capacity will reach between 5 to 8 gigawatts by 2030, driven by AI adoption, cloud expansion, and data localisation. The companies estimate a global market opportunity of over $3 trillion in the next seven years, as investments in AI computing infrastructure continue to grow.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, highlighted the significance of this venture, stating that the AI revolution requires a new industrial architecture where energy, hyperscale infrastructure, advanced computing, and precision manufacturing converge. He emphasised that the joint venture with Jabil is a strategic move to combine Jabil’s engineering and manufacturing expertise with Adani’s strengths in energy, infrastructure, and data centres, thereby building the physical backbone of the global AI economy.
Mike Dastoor, CEO of Jabil Inc., expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that the MoU represents a significant step towards establishing a scaled AI infrastructure manufacturing platform in India. The partnership aims to integrate Jabil’s extensive experience in engineering and manufacturing with Adani’s infrastructure capabilities to deliver rack-level data centre solutions to hyperscalers in India and worldwide.
The joint venture aligns with Adani Group’s commitment to developing 5 GW of green-energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres by 2035. For Jabil, this venture expands its footprint in India’s data centre market, complementing its recent acquisitions aimed at enhancing data centre capabilities. As the venture progresses, it will be subject to definitive agreements, regulatory approvals, and customary conditions. Analysts view this collaboration as a significant development in India’s data infrastructure landscape, potentially positioning the country as a key player in the global AI economy.
