CBI Arrests a Superintendent of Central Excise and a Private Person in an Alleged Bribery
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested then Superintendent, Range-36, Central Excise, Nehru Place, New Delhi (now Superintendent, GST Council, New Delhi) and a Tax Consultant (private person) in an alleged bribery.
A case was registered U/s 120 B of IPC and Sec. 7 & 8 of PC Act 1988 on the allegations that the public servant was indulged in corrupt practice of extending undue favours to private parties /businessmen by not taking action against them in lieu of periodical illegal gratification and the Tax Consultant(private person) used to contact the private parties on behalf of public servant & used to collect alleged bribe money on regular basis. CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused when the Tax Consultant had handed over Rs. 10,000/- to Superintendentl who accepted the same.
Searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused including office & residence. Currency notes amounting to Rs.7 Lakh(apprx) were recovered during the search at the residence of Superintendent.
Both the arrested accused were produced today before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi and were sent to judicial custody till 16.08.2017.
