Public Notice No. 42 (RE-99)/1997-2002, Dated: 01.12.1999

Public Notice No. 42 (RE-99), dated 1st December 1999, amends the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002 under the powers of the Director General of Foreign Trade. The notice adds new entries in Appendix-41 and Appendix-51 of the Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1). It specifies the cotton waste export duty for combed cotton yarn: 12.1% for yarn below 40s and 14.3% for yarn above 41s. Additionally, a new entry is added under Appendix-51 for the Spices Board, Cochin, covering the export of spices and cashewnuts. The notice also includes a corrigendum to paragraph 3(1)(i) of Appendix-48, clarifying the exemption rules for certain personal and institutional imports. These amendments aim to provide clearer guidelines for the export of cotton and spice-related products while ensuring regulatory accuracy and compliance in the export process.

In exercise of powers conferred under paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, as notified in the Gazette of India extraordinary, Part-II- Section 3 – Sub- section (ii) vide S.O No. 283(E) dated 31.3.97, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendment in the Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1) (RE-99), 1997-2002.

1. The following shall be added at S.No.100 in Appendix-41

2. The following shall be added at Serial number 10 in Appendix – 51.

Corrigendum

The first sentence of paragraph 3(1)(i) of Appendix-48 relating to Foreign Trade (Exemption from application of Rules in certain cases) Order, 1993 shall be corrected to read as under

i. by any person through post or otherwise for his personal use, or by any institution or hospital for its use except)
