The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued Notification No. 21 (RE-2006)/2004-2009 on 20 July 2006, amending the Schedule–I (Imports) of the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09. Under this amendment, Condition No. 18 of Chapter 1A, which was introduced through Notification No. 2 (RE-2006)/2004-2009 dated 7 April 2006, will not apply to the import of Soyabean Oil until 31 March 2007. This move temporarily relaxes the import restrictions placed on Soyabean Oil to possibly address supply needs or market conditions. The notification was issued in the public interest and signed by K.T. Chacko, Director General of Foreign Trade and Ex-Officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

NEW DELHI, Dated: 20th July, 2006

S.O. (E) In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy – 2004-09, the Central Government hereby amends Schedule – I (Imports) of the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09 as under:

“Condition No. 18 of Chapter 1A (General Notes Regarding Import Policy) notified vide Notification No.2 (RE-2006)/2004-2009 dated 7.4.2006 will not apply to import of Soyabean Oil till 31.03.2007. ”

This issues in public interest.
