The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), through Notification No. 18(RE-2005)/2004-2009 dated July 28, 2005, announced an amendment to the “ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items 2004-2009” under the Foreign Trade Policy. Exercising powers under Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, and paragraph 1.3 of the FTP, the notification removes the words “(including Shell or Nut Charcoal)” from the description against Sl. No. 145 (H.S. Code 4402 00 10) in Chapter 44, under the heading “Wood and Articles of Wood; Wood Charcoal” in Schedule-2 of the Export Policy.
This change is effective immediately and aims to refine export classifications for better clarity and policy alignment. The amendment has been issued in the public interest to streamline foreign trade regulations.
