The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued Policy Circular No. 53 on 29th February 2000, providing clarification on Indo-Myanmar border trade. The circular refers to Public Notice No. 289 (dated 10th April 1995), which specifies certain items allowed for import from Myanmar. The DGFT confirms that, apart from these listed items, normal trade of all other commodities is also allowed between the two countries through the Land Customs Station at Moreh. This trade is subject to the payment of applicable customs duties, as with any other international trade. This clarification aims to facilitate and regulate border trade operations effectively.
