Sub : – Importability of items where import restrictions have been removed vide Notification No.81 dated 16.1.2009.

1. Representations have been received seeking a clarification on clearance of import consignments of items where restrictions have been removed vide Notification No.81 dated 16.1.2009. The consignments in question were said to be imported during the period i.e. 21st November, 2008 and 16th January, 2009, when these items were restricted for imports.

2. The matter has been examined. Accordingly, it is clarified that import clearance without a licence may be allowed in all cases where goods have been imported during the period of restriction, but Bill of Entry for clearance has been filed with customs on or after 16th January, 2009.

This issues with the approval of competent authority.
