The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued Trade Notice No. 11/2025-26 dated 27 August 2025, regarding the revision of Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) for certain food items. The DGFT observed that some existing SIONs contain generic input descriptions, while in other cases, the quantities of alternative inputs are not specified clearly. Such ambiguities may lead to misinterpretation or potential misuse of the norms.

Considering the sensitivity of food-related exports and imports, the Norms Committee-6 has decided to review specific SIONs including E-1, E-4, E-5, E-7, E-38, E-46, E-75, E-76, E-77, E-100, E-101, E-102, E-127, E-132, and E-133, along with the general notes associated with them. Exporters, importers, industry associations, export promotion councils, commodity boards, and other stakeholders have been invited to provide comments, suggestions, and feedback on the proposed revision.

Stakeholders have been requested to submit their views to NC-VI by email at dgft@nic.in by 5 September 2025. The notice aims to bring clarity, transparency, and precision to the SION framework for food items to ensure fair trade practices and proper implementation of export-import policies.
