Subject: Ban on export of Maize -Notification 22 dated 3.7.2008–Clarification reg

Attention is invited to Notification No 22 dated 3.7.2008 vide which export of maize has been prohibited till 15.10.2008. Exports under Transitional Arrangements under Para 1.5 of Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09 have also been prohibited under the above Notification.

2. However, Para 9.12 of Handbook of Procedures (Volume 1) which reads as follows, is applicable under the above Notification:-

“However, wherever Procedural / Policy provisions have been modified to disadvantage of exporters, same shall not be applicable to consignments already handed over to Customs for examination and subsequent exports upto Public Notice / Notification date.”

In the light of above, it is hereby clarified that all exports covered under Para 9.12 of handbook of Procedures (Volume 1) as detailed above shall be allowed.

3. This issues with the approval of Director General of Foreign trade.
