PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 47 (RE-98)/97-02

NEW DELHI : DATED THE 8TH October, 1998

 Attention is invited to the entry appearing at Sl. No. 5 of Chapter 15, Negative List of Imports, Part II, Paragraph 15.2,

‘I. Miscellaneous Items’ of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-02 (Re-98), under which Raw silk/silk cocoons are restricted and are not permitted to be imported except against a licence or in accordance with a Public Notice issued in this behalf.

In exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby allows the import of Mulberry Raw Silk without an import licence by the following agencies:-

1. National Handloom Development Corporation,

2. Handicrafts and Handloom Exports Corporation,

3. State Handloom Development Corporation/other State level sister organisations dealing with Handloom/ silk,

4. Central Silk Board,

5. State Trading Corporation of India Ltd. (STC) and

6. Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation of India Limited (MMTC).

 This issues in public interest.
