Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has issued Notification No. 46/2024-Customs on 22nd October 2024, amending the export duty on certain rice varieties. In exercise of the powers under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, the Central Government has deemed it necessary to revise the duties in the public interest. The notification modifies the previous Notification No. 27/2011-Customs, dated 1st March 2011, by updating specific entries in the attached table. Notably, the export duty for items listed under serial numbers 6A, 6B, and 6C is now reduced to “nil” for each respective category, effectively eliminating the export duty on these rice varieties.

G.S.R. 660(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), notification No. 27/2011-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2011, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 153(E), dated the 1st March, 2011, namely :-

In the said notification, in the TABLE,-

i. against S. No. 6A., in column (4), for the entry, the entry “nil” shall be substituted;

ii. against S. No. 6B., in column (4), for the entry, the entry “nil” shall be substituted;

iii. against S. No. 6C., in column (4), for the entry, the entry “nil” shall be substituted.

3. This notification shall come into force with immediate effect.
