Customs Adjudicating Authorities Appointed – Notification No. 59/2024-Customs (N.T.)

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) issued Notification No. 59/2024-Customs (N.T.) on 5th September 2024. This notification, under the powers granted by sections 4(1) and 5(1) and (1A) of the Customs Act, 1962, designates new adjudicating authorities for specific Show Cause Notices (SCNs). The notification details the appointment of the Principal Commissioner or Commissioner of Customs, Nhava Sheva-I, Mumbai Zone-II, to handle the adjudication for SCNs involving M/s D.K. Biopharma Pvt. Ltd. and others. The SCNs referenced include F.No.GEN/ADJ/Comm/86/2023-Adjn dated 7th June 2023 and No.338/2023 23/Commr/NS-I/CAC/JNCH dated 17th May 2023. The new adjudicating authority will now oversee these cases, ensuring their resolution is managed by the designated customs officials. This change takes effect from the date the notification is published in the Official Gazette.

Notification No. 59/2024-Customs (N.T.) | Dated: 5th September, 2024

S.O. 3821(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 read with sub-section (1) and (1A) of section 5 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, hereby appoints the officer mentioned in column (4) of the Table below, to exercise the powers and discharge duties conferred or imposed on the officers mentioned in column (3) of the said Table, for purpose of adjudication of the Show Cause Notices, mentioned in column (2) of the said Table, in respect of the Noticee mentioned in column (1) therein, namely:-

2. This notification shall come into force from the date of the publication in the Official Gazette.
