Chennai Customs has issued a public notice addressing the difficulties faced by exporters, including those of rice, in claiming the RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) benefit. The issue arose because new RoDTEP rates, notified on May 26, 2025, were made effective retrospectively from May 1, 2025. Exporters who filed shipping bills between these dates were unable to claim the benefit through the automated system at the time of filing. To resolve this, Chennai Customs is now allowing eligible exporters to submit a post-EGM amendment request to their shipping bills. This will enable them to change their RoDTEP claim status from “N” (No) to “Y” (Yes) for specific tariff items mentioned in the notifications. The requests will be processed according to existing advisories, and the notice advises exporters to submit their amendment requests promptly to receive the benefit. This measure ensures that exporters who were initially unable to claim the benefit due to the timing of the new rates can now do so.

1. Kind attention of all exporters, Customs Brokers, and other stakeholders, is invited to the difficulties faced by exporters in claiming RoDTEP benefits for tariff items for which RoDTEP rates were notified, by DGFT Notifications No. 10/2025-26 and 11/2025-26 dated 26th May, 2025 with retrospective effect from 01.05.2025, for the shipping bills filed prior to the implementation of the said notification on Customs Automated System.
2. Exporters could not have claimed said benefits for shipping bills filed before updation and implementation of the same on Customs Automated System (CAS), as the RODTEP rates notified vide the said notification dated 26.5.25 were given retrospective effect from 01.05.2025.
3. To address this, eligible exporters who were unable to claim RoDTEP benefit at the time of filing of shipping bills on or after 01.05.2025 may now request for post-EGM amendment to the shipping bills to allow claim for RoDTEP for tariff items mentioned in DGFT’s Notifications No. 10/2025-26 and 11/2025-26 dated 26th May, 2025. The requests of the eligible exporters will be processed to extend said RoDTEP benefits as per DG Systems advisories No. 16 and 18 dated 25.03.2025 and 07.04.2025.
4. Accordingly, for all shipping bills filed on or after 01.05.2025, requests to amend the RoDTEP claim from “N” (No) to “Y” (Yes) for the specified tariff items will be processed as per Chennai Customs- Public Notice No. 25/2025 dated 16.04.2025.
5. Exporters and trade stakeholders are advised to take note of this and submit their requests for Post-EGM Amendment at the earliest to claim the RoDTEP benefit.
6. Concerned officers should consider this Public Notice as a Standing Order for processing such eligible Post EGM amendment requests. Difficulties faced, if any, may be brought to the notice of the undersigned.
