The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the Superintendent of Customs at the Inland Container Depot (ICD), Whitefield, Bangalore, on allegations of illicit enrichment during his tenure. Acting on reliable information regarding illegal gratification accepted by customs officials, the CBI, in coordination with the Directorate General of Vigilance (Customs and Central Tax), conducted a joint operation at the ICD on September 20-21, 2024. During the operation, officials recovered over Rs 25 lakh from the accused. Subsequent searches at the Superintendent’s residence in Bangalore resulted in the seizure of incriminating documents. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details of the case.

CBI registers case against Superintendent of Customs (ICD, Bangalore) on allegations of illicit enrichment; ₹25 lakh recovered during joint operation by officers of CBI and Directorate General of Vigilance (Customs & Central Tax)
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case on 21.09.2024 against Superintendent of Customs, posted at Inland Container Depot, Whitefield, Bangalore on allegations of illicit enrichment done intentionally during the period of his office.
On reliable information that customs officials of Inland Container Depot (ICD), Whitefield, Bangalore were accepting illegal gratification and as part of vigilance drive, a joint operation was conducted by officers of CBI in co-ordination with officers of the Directorate General of Vigilance, Customs and Central Tax, at the said Inland Container Depot (ICD) on 20.09.2024 and 21.09.2024.
During the course of this operation, CBI officials recovered over Rs. 25 lakh from the possession of accused Superintendent of Customs.
Further, search has been conducted at the residential premises of accused in Bangalore which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
Investigation is continuing.
