On April 17, 2025, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) issued disciplinary notifications against two chartered accountants—CA Praveen Murarka and CA Subhash Chander Sharma—after they were found guilty of professional and/or other misconduct under provisions of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.
In the first case, CA Praveen Murarka (Membership No. 513907) was held guilty in two separate matters. For the first case, he was penalized under multiple items of the First and Second Schedules, resulting in a three-month removal from the Register of Members and a ₹50,000 fine. In the second case, he was penalized under another item of the Second Schedule, resulting in an additional six-month removal. These penalties will run consecutively, leading to a total suspension period of nine months starting April 17, 2025.
Separately, CA Subhash Chander Sharma (Membership No. 083982) was found guilty of misconduct under similar provisions and has been ordered to be removed from the Register of Members for a period of one month, also effective April 17, 2025.

The Committee also ordered that the punishments imposed in above two cases are independent and shall run consecutively. In pursuance of the aforesaid Orders of the Disciplinary Committee and in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 20 of the aforesaid Act, read with Regulation 18 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, it is hereby notified that the name of CA. Praveen Murarka (Membership No. 513907), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a consolidated period of 09(Nine) months with effect from 17th April, 2025.
