The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), New Delhi, has invited online applications from Chartered Accountant firms and LLPs seeking empanelment for the year 2026–2027 for consideration of appointment as statutory auditors of government companies under Sections 139(5) and 139(7) of the Companies Act, 2013. The online application process will be available on the official website (www.care.cag.gov.in) from 13 February to 02 March 2026. Eligible firms must fill in or update their data reflecting the status of the firm as on 01 January 2026. After successfully completing or updating the application, firms are required to generate an online acknowledgement letter for the year; failure to generate this acknowledgement will result in the application not being considered for empanelment. In addition to completing the online process, applicant firms must submit a printed copy of the generated acknowledgement letter along with supporting documentary evidence in hard copy to the CAG office by 10 March 2026. The notice emphasizes strict compliance with procedural requirements and timelines, making generation of the acknowledgement letter and timely submission of documents mandatory conditions for eligibility. The detailed instructions, including the policy governing empanelment and selection of auditors, will be available on the official website during the application window.

Empanelment of Chartered Accountant firms/LLPs for the year 2026-2027

Online Applications are invited from Chartered Accountant firms/LLPs who desire to be empanelled with the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year 2026­2027 for considering for appointment as auditors of Companies as per Sections 139(5) and 139(7) of the Companies Act 2013. Online application form along with detailed instructions including policy of Empanelment and Selection of Auditors will be available on the website www.care.cag.gov.in from 13 February to 02 March 2026. The applicant firms/LLPs will have to fill/update the data showing the status of their firm as on 01 January 2026. After filling/updating the data, the firms/LLPs will be required to generate online acknowledgement letter for the year. If the firms/LLPs fail to generate online acknowledgment letter, their application would not be considered for empanelment. The firms/LLPs will be required to submit a print out of the acknowledgement letter generated online and also hard copies of the documents in support of their online application to this office by 10 March 2026.
