The RBI has withdrawn its 2021 circular on grievance redress mechanisms following updated disclosure norms and enhanced ombudsman compensation powers. Banks must still maintain robust grievance systems under existing regulations.
RBI has issued draft amendment directions covering advertising, marketing, DSAs, mis-selling, and dark patterns. The proposals apply to all banks, NBFCs, and financial institutions.
RBI’s 2025 Directions cap borrower and group exposures, tighten unsecured loan norms, and mandate portfolio diversification. The move strengthens concentration risk management and capital alignment for UCBs.
The RBI has proposed raising the aggregate ceiling on unsecured advances by Urban Co-operative Banks to 20% of total loans and advances. The draft also revises definitions, individual limits, and disclosure norms to strengthen risk management and transparency.
Draft 2026 Directions exempt eligible NBFCs below ₹1,000 crore from registration under Section 45IA. Strict conditions and disclosures will apply to Unregistered Type I NBFCs.
The Government clarified that service charges are set under board-approved policies and RBI oversight, requiring transparency and reasonableness. No new caps are proposed, with reliance on supervision and prescribed free limits.
India’s banks record a sharp decline in bad loans, with gross NPAs at 2.15% by September 2025, highlighting the impact of sustained regulatory and policy reforms.
The Tribunal dismissed the appeal after finding that bank records, agreements, and admissions established benami elements. Procedural objections were held insufficient to override substantive findings.
The revised directions mandate no collateral up to ₹20 lakh and permit banks to extend collateral-free MSME loans up to ₹25 lakh based on internal policy and borrower track record.
The amended borrowing regulations restrict use of ECB funds for specified sectors including real estate and securities trading. A revised ECB framework with updated definitions, limits, and reporting norms has been introduced.
