Reference is invited to Notification No. 4 dated 25.4.2018 amending the import policy of Peas under Exim Code 07131000, Chapter 7 of the ITC (HS) 2017 on the above subject. In this regard, as already notified, total quantity of Peas available for import during the period from 01st April to 30th June, 2018 is one lakh MT minus the quantity already imported from 01.04.2018.

A two-day meeting of port officers organized by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), of the Department of Commerce, ended today in New Delhi. The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Shri Suresh Prabhu, addressed the regional officers from different parts of the country and urged them to reorient their thinking to be a facilitator and not a regulator.
Section 17(5) of the Customs Act provides that ‘where any re-assessment done under sub-section (4) is contrary to the self-assessment done by the importer or exporter and in cases other than those where the importer or exporter, as the case may be, confirms his acceptance of the said re-assessment in writing, the proper officer shall pass a speaking order on the reassessment, within fifteen days from the date of re-assessment of the bill of entry or the shipping bill, as the case may be.
