The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Kumari Chandani Chauhan, an accused in a case involving alleged job fraud in the Income Tax Department. The order, issued on Thursday, July 10, 2025, by the single bench, allows Chauhan’s release on bail without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case.
Chauhan was implicated in Case Crime No. 321 of 2023, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 406 (criminal breach of trust), registered at Police Station Rasara, District Ballia.
According to the prosecution, Chauhan and co-accused persons allegedly took ₹3,60,000 from the complainant on the pretext of securing a job in the Income Tax Department. The applicant’s counsel argued that only ₹80,000 was transferred to Chauhan’s account and that the allegations were false. The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged based on an application moved under Section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.). The counsel also highlighted that Chauhan is an unmarried young lady, has no criminal history, and has been in judicial custody since March 24, 2025.
