CBI ARRESTS AN INCOME TAX OFFICER AND A CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT IN AN ALLEGED BRIBERY CASE OF RS. 3.5 LAKH
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Income Tax Officer, Ward 58(3), D Block, Vikas Bhawan, New Delhi and a Chartered Accountant for demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs. 3.5 lakh from the complainant.
A case was registered u/s 120-B of IPC and 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the Income Tax Officer and Chartered Accountant were demanding a bribe of Rs. 3.5 lakh from the complainant for favouring him in the scrutiny of his assessment case for the year 2013-14. CBI laid a trap and the Income Tax officer and CA were caught while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 3.5 lakh from the complainant. Searches have been conducted at the office& residential premises of the accused. A cash of Rs. Three lakh (approx) was recovered during the personal search of the accused officer.
Both the arrested accused are being produced today in the Designated Court at Delhi.
