The 33rd Annual International Seminar of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) UAE Chapter is going to be held on 25th and 26th November 2021. The theme of the event is ‘Building Resilience – Emerging Stronger’.
The professional event of ICAI has recently got into the limelight because one of the appointed speakers of the event was dropped due to the allegations charged by the Princess and businesswoman of UAE. The entire story is briefly explained in the present article.
Briefs on the event and disputed speaker-
ICAI, UAE Chapter is going to host an event on two days i.e. 25th November 2021 and 26th November 2021. The event is likely to be enormous for knowledge sharing mainly on financial topics; professional and business networking; ideas on innovation as well as integration; etc.
Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary, CEO and Editor-in-chief of Zee News was appointed as one of the speakers at the event.
Notably, other than Sudhir Chaudhary, other eminent event panelists are ICAI President Mr. Nihar Jambusaria; UAE state minister for foreign trade; HDFC CEO and Vice Chairman Keki Mistry; Manappuram Finance CEO and MD Mr. V. P. Nandakumar; IPS officer as well as author Mr. Amit Lodha; Director as well as film producer Mr. Shekhar Kapur; Paralympics medalist Ms. Bhavina Patel and Avenue Supermarkets Chairman Mr. Ramesh Damani.
Objection faced by Sudhir Chaudhary-
UAE Princess and businesswoman, named Hend bint Faisal AL Qasim, raised her objection against Sudhir Chaudhary. Opposing via Twitter, the UAE Princess questioned the ICAI that “Why they were bringing an ‘Intolerant terrorist’, ‘Islamophobe and hater’ to UAE.
Action against the objection of UAE Princess-
30-members of the ICAI UAE Chapter wrote a letter to the event organization committee requesting them to drop Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary from the panel of speakers. The major allegations for disagreement, as stated in the letters, were-
- He was alleged to have been involved in various unprofessional journalism and criminal misdeeds.
- He was also alleged for manufacturing and spreading fake news, Islamophobia and communal hatred, doctoring tapes, etc.
The final decision by the event organization committee-
As per the final decision, the even organization committee has declined the request to disinvite Sudhir Chaudhary. However, Sudhir Chaudhary is dropped from the panelist of speakers.
