Subject : Rule 56-B-Instructions regarding.

I am directed to invite your attention to Board”s Circular No. 14/88-CX.6 (F.No.212/30/87-CX.6) dated 2nd March, 1994 on the above subject wherein it was stated inter alia, that the powers of granting permission under Rule 56-B would vest in the Collectors only.

2. The matter has been re-examined by the Board.  It has been decided that henceforth powers under Rule 56-B would be exercised by the Assistant Collectors.
