In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (iii) of clause (17) of section 10 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), and in supersession of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. S. O. 695(E), dated 3rd October, 1997, the Central Government hereby specifies all allowances received by the members of the State Legislature or any Committee thereof to the extent of two thousand rupees per month in the aggregate for the purposes of the said sub-clause.
This notification shall be effective on and from 1st April, 1998.
