NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 6th March, 2019
G.S.R. 184(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (d) and clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-
1. Short title and commencement.–
(1) These rules may be called the Coinage of One Rupee, Two Rupees, Five Rupees, Ten Rupees and Twenty Rupees Rules, 2019.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Denomination of Coins.-
The coins of One Rupee, Two Rupees, Five Rupees, Ten Rupees and Twenty Rupees shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government.
3. Dimension and Composition of Coins.-
The coins of the above denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely:-

4. Design.-
The design of the coins shall be as specified in the First Schedule to these rules.
5. Standard Weight and Remedy allowed.-
The standard weight of the coins of the above denomination and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules.
FIRST SCHEDULE
(See rule 4)
(a) ONE RUPEE:
(i) OBVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “satyamev jayate” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “ Bharat ” in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.
(ii) REVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “1” in the international numerals. The Rupee symbol “Rs” shall be shown above the denominational value. The design of grains depicting the agricultural dominance of the country is flanked on the left periphery of the coin. The top right and bottom right peripheries shall bear the word “ One Rupay” in Hindi and “ONE RUPEE” in English. The year of minting in international numerals shall be shown on centre of left periphery of the coin.
(b) TWO RUPEES:
(iii) OBVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “satyamev jayate” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “Bharat” in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.
(iv) REVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “2” in the international numerals. The Rupee symbol “Rs.” shall be shown above the denominational value. The design of grains depicting the agricultural dominance of the country is flanked on the left periphery of the coin. The top right and bottom right peripheries shall bear the word “DO Rupye” in Hindi and “TWO RUPEES” in English. The year of minting in international numerals shall be shown on centre of left periphery of the coin.
(c) FIVE RUPEES:
(v) OBVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “satyamev jayate” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “Bharat” in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.
(vi) REVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “5” in the international numerals. The Rupee symbol “Rs” shall be shown above the denominational value. The design of grains depicting the agricultural dominance of the country is flanked on the left periphery of the coin. The top right and bottom right peripheries shall bear the word “ Panch Rupye” in Hindi and “FIVE RUPEES” in English. The year of minting in international numerals shall be shown on centre of left periphery of the coin.
(d) TEN RUPEES:
(vii) OBVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “satyamev jayate” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “Bharat” in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.
(viii) REVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “10” in the international numerals. The Rupee symbol “Rs.” shall be shown above the denominational value. The design of grains depicting the agricultural dominance of the country is flanked on the left periphery of the coin. The top right and bottom right peripheries shall bear the word “ Das Rupye” in Hindi and “TEN RUPEES” in English. The year of minting in international numerals shall be shown on centre of left periphery of the coin.
(e) TWENTY RUPEES:

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “satyamev jayate” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “Bharat” in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.
(x) REVERSE:
The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “20” in the international numerals. The Rupee symbol “Rs” shall be shown above the denominational value. The design of grains depicting the agricultural dominance of the country is flanked on the left periphery of the coin. The top right and bottom right peripheries shall bear the word “Bees Rupye” in Hindi and “TWENTY RUPEES” in English. The year of minting in international numerals shall be shown on centre of left periphery of the coin.
