Ministry of finance has conveyed vide F.No. 1/04/2016-NS, dated: 22.11.2016 that subscribers of small scheme may not be allowed to deposit old demonetised currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000, in Small Saving Schemes.

Small Saving Schemes include Post Office Savings Account, 5-Year Post Office Recurring Deposit Account, Post Office Time Deposit Account, Post Office Monthly Income Account, Senior Citizens Savings Scheme Account, 15 year Public Provident Fund Account, Kisan Vikas Patra, National Savings Certificate (VIII issue), Sukanya Samriddhi Account etc.deposit-of-cash-in-small-saving-scheme

    Lakhs of rupees in old notes have been already deposited in post offices. Perhaps the latest circular is to tell Janata ttell Janata that the whistle has been blown to stop the ” Game of old note deposit”.
