The Government of India, through Notification No. 20 (RE-2001) dated July 27, 2001, has authorized the export of an additional 50,000 metric tonnes of onions (excluding Bangalore Rose and Krishnapuram varieties). The allocation is distributed among agencies such as NAFED (17,500 MT), MSAMB (17,500 MT), GAIC (5,000 MT), and others, with specific quantities for each. These exports will adhere to the terms laid out in Notification No. 16 (RE-2001) dated June 26, 2001, except for revised shipment deadlines. The onions must be shipped by August 31, 2001. Additionally, any unutilized balance from the earlier released 50,000 metric tonnes is also permitted for export until the same date. The initiative aims to streamline onion exports through designated State Trading Enterprises (STEs) and Registered Exporters under prescribed conditions. The notification emphasizes timely export execution to meet trade objectives.
