The Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, issued Notification No. 75/2001-Customs on July 6, 2001, under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962. This notification amends the earlier Notification No. 84/97-Customs, dated November 11, 1997. The amendment adds the “United Nations World Food Programme” to the list in the notification’s annexure, under serial number 7. This inclusion is aimed at aligning customs policies with public interest considerations. The original notification and its amendments provide concessions or exemptions under customs regulations. The most recent amendment to Notification No. 84/97 before this was made via Notification No. 119/99-Customs on November 2, 1999.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 84/97-Customs, dated the 11th November, 1997, namely:-
In the said notification, in ANNEXURE, after serial number 6 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be inserted, namely:-
“7. United Nations World Food Programme. “.
