The pension on fixed rates is provided to the employees retiring under the Provident Fund (PF) scheme.

The Central Government had constituted an Expert Committee for reviewing the Employees Pension Scheme, 1995 entirely including revision of Pension. The Expert Committee submitted its report to the Central Government on 5th August, 2010 and the recommendations of the Committee were placed before the Central Board of Trustees, Employees’ Provident Fund [CBT (EPF)] for consideration on 15th September, 2010. The CBT (EPF) directed that the report be first considered by the Pension Implementation Committee (PIC). The PIC has since finalized its report and sent it to Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation for placing it before the CBT (EPF) for taking a final decision in the matter.

This information was given by the Minister of Labour and Employment Shri Mallikarjun Kharge in reply in reply to a written question in the Lok Sabha today.

I hope, our present government will definitely think and ponder over situation about the revision of epf pension, considering the price hike of essential commodities preferably medicines which are very much essential in these hard days for a retired person like us.

  3. Pankaj Dasgupta says:

1.EPF Pension was last revised in the year 2000,after that no revision has taken place.
2.It is really surprising that EPF pension has not been considered for a hike for long 14 years.
3.price of essential commodities has increased many folds. We are not even able to purchase essential commodities.
4.We are not even afford to purchase medicine.
5.Will honorable new government consider for a hike our pension in a suitable manner and also will linked with CPI, so that we can survive with honor with EPFO pension. Also scheme like CGHS,ESI ,if developed ,will be a great help for EPFO pensioners

  4. M.R.Vishwanath says:

Sir, It is really painful to highlight that E PF pensioners are paid a very meager pension of a maximum of Rs 1500 to 1800 and that also without any DA component. Does the Government and the so called very intelligent people who frame the Policies fail to understand that the E PF pensioners are also Human beings and they also have to face all the difficulties of old age and other related factors. Kindly do not think for Gods sake that E PF pensioners would have Em massed huge sums as savings so that they can live a happy life till their end. Kindly note that when Salaries and pensions of others is increasing periodically by way of DA hike and Pay revisions. Prices increase for all and not only for the Privileged. The Pension of the E PF pensioners is the same that is fixed at the time of retirement which is Pathetic Government should give a Reasonable and Sympathetic look into the issues also and cover The E PF pensioners Pensions under DA rules the governments Health Schemes.

Sir, often I read in Newspapers that Govt. is going to EPF pension. The star of pension is not appearing in the sky. It remains black and black every night to sun rising. The members of EPF getting lowest pension are looking their hands every day to receive increased pension but they remain rubbing hands. It is a matter of grave concern that how we will manage marriages of our children while other former employees of state govt. are performing their duties towards them. Hope any day will come definitely whether we survive for it or not.

Hope Govt. will exercise its power for this noble cause.

  6. prakash chandra sharma says:

    The Hon’ble Minister

I hope looking to this trend of price increase your decision resting somewhere will get some inspiration from other departments where govt. has already increased DA/pension will imagine difficulties families of pensioners getting far behind amount of pension. Hope to save death by starvation of relevant families govt. will take necessary steps at the earliest.

  7. T D M Pillai says:

60 million pensioners all over India should unite thru a Forum and send a Memorandum to the concerned to take a final decision before a stipulated date failing which we should wait till the

    next Lok sabha Election.

It is about to end 3/4 years since I have been waiting for a sigh of relief towards increased pension but it appears that it will remain a dream being published/posted over Website. The Hon’ble Labour Minister declared in parliament very very long ago for minimum increase in pension but far from its implementation. I am also a member of this scheme getting only Rs. 832 pm . Can I survive with family . For want of financial assistance I am unable educate my children as a result they are abusing to parents. As far as purchasing of essential commodities is concerned, it is duty of Hon’ble Labour Minister.

Hope Govt. will think sympathetically called AAM Admi.

  9. BADARINATH says:

IT IS REGRETTED THAT gOVT IS ONLY SHOWING CARROT AND NOT DOING ANY THING REGARDING THE PENSION AS HELL LOT OF TIME IS TAKEN TO RAISE EPF PENSION ALL THE RETIREES OF PSUS SHOULD STAGE A DHARNA AND FAST  UNTO DEATH TILL IT IS RAISED

  10. BADARINATH says:

IT IS A GOOD STEP THAT GOVT HAS TAKEN TOWARDS THE EPF PENSION BUT PIC SHOULD NOT SLEEP ON THE MATTER AS THEY ARE TAKING THEIR SWEET TIME IN RAISING THE ABOVE ISSUE AS THE PRICES OF THE ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES HAVE INCREASED BEYOND CONTROL AND ISSUE IS LONG PENDING IT IS REQUESTED TO IMMEDIATELY RAISE PENSION WITH OUT FURTHER DELAY
