Taiwan’s ongoing negotiations with India on a Double Taxation Agreement (“DTA”) look set to be concluded in the near future. “I can only say that things are moving very well. We are finalizing the details in the very, very near future,” said Pradeep Kumar Rawat, the director-general of the India-Taipei Association. He did not say when a more detailed announcement may be expected.

Talks regarding a DTA between the two countries have been ongoing for almost a decade.

“Both sides are really moving very positively and in a very, very fast paced manner to complete these internal arrangements,” Rawat said.

Taiwan’s Taxation Agency said that it could no speak publicly about ongoing treaty negotiations.

Taiwan has signed DTAs with 17 countries to date, including Singapore, Israel, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
