The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in collaboration with Godrej Properties Limited and RC Group, has announced the commencement of the first phase of the Bandra Bay promenade development. This initiative aims to transform the underutilised land along the bay into a vibrant waterfront district, enhancing the area’s aesthetic and functional appeal.
The first phase of this project will introduce a bayside walking track, a landscaped garden with expansive lawns, and a lifestyle hub featuring a pet park, literature zone, and amphitheatre. Subsequent phases will expand the development with a mini golf course and a dedicated activity and sports zone. This initiative aligns with BMC’s broader vision of creating a premier waterfront district at Bandra Bay, offering residents and visitors a space to engage with nature and their community.
Shri Vishwas Mote, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of BMC, expressed that Bandra’s waterfront is one of Mumbai’s finest natural assets. The development will provide spaces for community engagement, allowing people to walk, spend time with family, and participate in community activities. Godrej Properties’ Chief Design & Sustainability Officer, Mr. Rohit Mohan, emphasised the project’s focus on sustainability and thoughtful design, aiming to create a long-lasting, well-designed public realm that enhances the neighbourhood’s value.
Anup Singh, Head Design & Regulatory at RC Group, highlighted the importance of community aspirations in the design process, envisioning Bandra Bay as a new landmark for the neighbourhood. The collaboration between BMC, Godrej Properties, and RC Group underscores the significance of public-private partnerships in developing high-quality urban infrastructure.
This development is expected to significantly enhance Bandra’s waterfront appeal, providing a lasting landmark that benefits residents and visitors alike. As Godrej Properties continues to uphold its commitment to sustainability and community-focused design, the Bandra Bay promenade is poised to become a meaningful part of Mumbai’s urban landscape. Analysts view this project as a positive step towards integrating environmental sensitivity with urban development, potentially setting a benchmark for future waterfront projects in India.
