Summary: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), through Notification F. No. RCD-15001/4/2021-Regulatory-FSSAI-part(1) dated 7 September 2026, has amended the principal notification governing the jurisdiction of Central Food Safety Officers. Exercising powers under sub-section (5) of Section 10 read with Section 37 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, FSSAI has expanded the “Area of Jurisdiction” specified against certain officers by adding designated airports. The amendment inserts Vishakhapatnam Airport against serial number 2, Cochin Airport against serial number 4, Guwahati Airport against serial numbers 19 and 74, Hyderabad Airport against serial number 22, Chandigarh Airport against serial number 28, Ghaziabad Airport against serial number 30, Amritsar Airport against serial number 43, Bengaluru Airport against serial number 53, Mangalore Airport against serial number 54, Bagdogra Airport against serial numbers 65 and 76, Ahmedabad Airport against serial number 69, and Indore Airport against serial number 78. The changes take effect from the date of publication of the notification. The notification amends the principal notification dated 2 September 2021, which had originally notified Central Food Safety Officers and their respective areas of jurisdiction, and records that the principal notification was last amended on 6 April 2026.

No. RCD-15001/4/2021-Regulatory-FSSAI-part(1).—In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-Section 5 of Section 10 read with Section 37 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (34 of 2006), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India hereby notifies the following officers as Central Food Safety Officers for the area mentioned against each with effect from the date of publication of this notification by amending the principal notification, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4 dated the 2nd September, 2021:-
In the table;
(1) against Sr. no. 2, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Vishakhapatnam Airport’ shall be inserted;
(2) against Sr. no. 4, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Cochin Airport’ shall be inserted;
(3) against Sr. no. 19, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Guwahati Airport’ shall be inserted;
(4) against Sr. no. 22, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Hyderabad Airport’ shall be inserted;
(5) against Sr. no. 28, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Chandigarh Airport’ shall be inserted;

(7) against Sr. no. 43, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Amritsar Airport’ shall be inserted;
(8) against Sr. no. 53, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Bengaluru Airport’ shall be inserted;
(9) against Sr. no. 54, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Mangalore Airport’ shall be inserted;
(10) against Sr. no. 65, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Bagdogra Airport’ shall be inserted;
(11) against Sr. no. 69, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Ahmedabad Airport’ shall be inserted;
(12) against Sr. no. 74, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Guwahati Airport’ shall be inserted;
(13) against Sr. no. 76, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Bagdogra Airport’ shall be inserted;
(14) against Sr. no. 78, in column ‘3’ relating to ‘Area of Jurisdiction’, after the existing words, the words ‘and Indore Airport’ shall be inserted.
