Dinesh Kumar Dadsena Vs Whitesheep Technology Pvt. Ltd. (Competition Commission of India)
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) considered an information filed by Dinesh Kumar Dadsena under Section 19(1)(a) of the Competition Act, 2002 against Whitesheep Technology Pvt. Ltd., which operates the cloud-based video generation and translation platform InVideo AI. The Informant, a paid subscriber and active user of the platform, alleged abuse of dominant position under Section 4 of the Act.
According to the Informant, he encountered a server malfunction in the platform’s automated translation feature on 15.09.2025 and reported the issue to the company. He alleged that the company responded with delays of 8–12 hours and provided evasive replies. On 19.09.2025, the company allegedly acknowledged the malfunction and promised compensation of 100 AI minutes, consisting of 50 minutes for September and 50 minutes for October. However, only 75 AI minutes were credited, and the remaining 25 minutes were not provided.
The Informant further alleged that when he followed up regarding the non-credit of the remaining AI minutes, the company informed him that he was the only consumer in India facing the issue. He claimed that instead of resolving the defect, the company unilaterally cancelled his subscription despite substantial unused paid AI minutes remaining in his account. Although a partial refund of ₹5,000 was subsequently issued, the Informant contended that the lost AI minutes and disrupted projects were not restored, resulting in economic loss, inability to use previously created content, and additional costs.
