With immediate effect, following para shall be added at the end of para 2 below Sl. No. 2.10 of Notification No. 56 /2009-2014 dated 06.08.2010:-The above quantity of 2 lakh tones of wheat to Bangladesh will be exported by the PSUs of Department of Commerce viz. M/s. STC and M/s. PEC Ltd. as follows:

The PSUs would lift the quantities of rice from the Central Pool and export on CIF basis as requested by the Government of Bangladesh. This would entail additional costs on account of freight, insurance etc. which will be borne by the Government of Bangladesh.

In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-14 and Paragraph 1.1 of the Handbook of Procedures (Vol. I) (2009-14), the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby adds one new SION as A- for the export products “Propylene” in the Hand Book of procedures (Vol.II) as updated on 31st May, 2009 and amended thereafter from time to time, at appropriate place as mentioned in Annexure “A” to this Public Notice.

Corporal punishment has been banned in all the schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued guidelines to all States/UTs as well as to the District Administrations for addressing the issue of corporal punishment in schools.

Individuals who tip-off the government on tax evaders can get to keep up to 20 per cent of the sum recovered, the government informed Parliament. There are guidelines for ‘Grant of Awards’ to informants who provide information on tax evasion,” Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.

The income-tax department has proposed a national e-management system for quick disposal of tax disputes, with more than Rs 75,000 crore, an amount close to a fifth of the government’s annual direct tax collections, locked in litigations.

The Supreme Court on Friday admitted a petition, filed by a retired chief commissioner of income-tax, which suggests that a legislation be made to make it mandatory for taxpayers to declare offshore bank accounts while filing annual returns. The premise behind the suggestion is to enable the government to take effective measures to seize wealth parked in Swiss and other offshore bank accounts by Indian residents.

ICAI probe on IPL may disclose if team owners had contravened auditing norms

A probe by the country’s leading accounts body may throw up warts on the business side of the country’s hottest sporting event. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will shortly submit a report on the balance sheets of all the eight Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises amid indications that the accounting regulator has come across violations of auditing norms by some of the teams.
